To better collate status announcements and updates about the ClackPoint service, we now have a status site hosted by tumblr.com at status.clackpoint.com. Announcements there will also feed into our Twitter stream.

Our first announcement is to say that there will be an at-risk period for 4 hours on Tuesday September 8 beginning at 04.00 PDT while we apply some updates.

We are pleased to announce that the beta version of the ClackPoint!™ API is now available for developers to integrate ClackPoint!™ functionality into their own systems.

What is it?

The API enables third party developers to allocate pins, map them to rooms and pre-populate information such as Nickname, Subject and Notepad contents.

Who is it for?

Anyone who runs a website with a community of users that would like to add collaboration features.

Now that Google have added Audio calling support from within GMail you can access ClackPoint!™ directly from your GMail account, without needing to install the GoogleTalk desktop application.

Simply add conference@clackpoint.com as a buddy, enter a command like '.join 123456' and then click 'call'. Audio quality is great, and we’ll be working on adding support for video, so you’ll be able to video chat in ClackPoint!™ as well.

The great news is that Fring have now released their IM and VoIP application into the Apple AppStore!

This means that you can now call ClackPoint!™ using Skype, from Fring for free from your iPhone.
